Olive Oil: Six Natural Remedies

Olive Oil: Six Natural Remedies

Since ancient times, the precious beneficial properties of Olive Oil were already known: in fact, its infinite uses were not only limited to cooking, but it acted as a real elixir of beauty.

Its uses were many and even our grandmothers knew some of these secrets, today fallen into disuse.

Here are 6 all-natural remedies with Olive Oil, to always keep in mind and use in daily life.

  1. Soothing for the throat

The cold weather is almost upon us and sore throats can be the order of the day. If you want to remedy this quickly and don’t want to resort to medication, try this old trick: ingest a teaspoon of Olive Oil, especially before going to work or school. Olive Oil can lubricate the throat and soothe the itching caused by redness of the mouth and tonsils.

  1. Earache Relief

If you or your children often suffer from earache, you can help with a few drops of warm olive oil that you can drip directly into the ear (remember: it should not be boiling hot, just barely warmed. Test on your wrist the level of tolerability before trying this method).

  1. Natural Scrub

Commercial scrubs are often full of environmentally harmful substances, such as the microgranules they contain, which can pollute and damage marine ecosystems. If necessary, you can prepare a homemade scrub by adding to extra virgin olive oil different ingredients such as salt or sugar or coffee for the exfoliating action and honey (an excellent natural antiseptic) or baking soda (whitening action), but also a few drops of natural essences, for a personalized scent.

  1. Remedy for chapped skin

If your tan is fading or if your skin tends to crack in the cold, use warm oil all over your body, especially on wet skin after a shower, and pat dry with a towel. In a few days, your skin will be beautiful and moisturized again.

  1. Natural anti-wrinkle

Rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, D and E, Olive Oil on the face is a great beauty ally for fighting and reducing wrinkles. To enhance its effect, create a mixture of olive, argan and shea oils and apply it to your face and neck every night before going to sleep. When you wake up, your skin will be firmer and more radiant.

  1. Against irritations

If you often suffer from irritations, due to shaving or other causes, an excellent grandmother’s remedy is to treat the reddened area with Olive Oil. It is also useful for children’s dermatitis, giving them great relief.
